Prevention > Youth Crime Action Plan (YCAP)

In July 2008 the Home Office published the Youth Crime Action Plan, designed to approach the issue of Youth Crime from a number of different perspectives. The £100m cross government plan is divided into 7 elements and is delivered by a wide range of services.

Within Kirklees the Youth Offending Team are working alongside many other agencies and services to deliver the Youth Crime Action Plan agenda including West Yorkshire Police, Young People’s Service (YPS), Schools, Streetscene, Kirklees Early Years Service (KEYS), Kirklees Anti Social Behaviour Unit (KASBU), Safer Stronger Communities etc.

The Youth Crime Action Plan is split into 7 elements:

  • Think Family

  • Family Intervention Projects (FIP)

Both of these above elements are related to parenting work and as such are co-ordinated by KEYS.

  • Operation Staysafe

  • Street Based Teams

  • After School Patrols

  • YOT Workers in Custody Suites

  • Reparation in Leisure Time, Including Friday and Saturday Nights
