Prevention > Youth Inclusion Programme
The Kirklees Youth Inclusion
Programme (YIP) is a project aimed at reducing the risk of anti social
behaviour and offending amongst young people. The YIP was set up in March
2001 and we work with young people aged 8 to 17 within the Dewsbury Moor
area of North Kirklees.
We work with young people who are at risk of school and/or social exclusion,
offending and anti social behaviour and neglect and offer them an
opportunity to participate in many diverse activities. These have included
arts and crafts, sports activities, anger management projects, sexual health
awareness, bullying projects, outdoor activities and residential trips etc.
We have offered these activities through one to one and group work sessions
to best meet the needs of the young people. The aims of the YIP are to
reduce offending, truancy and social exclusion by providing support and help
for young people.
